Do social networking sites encourage youths to disclose more personal information about themselves than they would in reality?

I am a student researching disclosures of sexual assault on social networking sites. To help my research I would really like to understand what are the impacts (positive & negative) of disclosing sexual assault or abuse on social network sites in particular for young people.

There are many social networking sites, i want to know how they are benefited? I know they are doing this for money, but how they are getting money?

I need to write a 3000 word (approx) term paper on the dangers of social networking sites. How can I start, find references, and find things to discuss.

My uncle has to get a new job, and it was recommended that he join some social networking sites such as LinkedIn to gain connections and speak to others in his profession. I was asked to gather a list of these sites for him, but the only thing I can think of is LinkedIn. I know there are ones like Facebook and MySpace, but I mean more professional-geared sites. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of any good social networking sites other than Facebook or Myspace?

I’m looking for some good international social networking sites (social networking sites that are particularly designed for international friendships / penpals), but not as big as Interpals, LiveJournal or Myspace. Preferably an international social networking site more known in East or South Asia, rather then what is most known in the states. Like Mixi, for example – But open to foreigners.

I’ve been out of high school for ten years now, and my reunion is coming up next month. However, with the advent of Facebook and Myspace, I keep in contact with the people I want to keep in contact with (and the few who are not on either site I see on a monthly basis anyway). With that premise in mind, with social networking sites all the rage, are high school class reunions obsolete?

Someone using my computer is doing things I don’t want them to do.(Porn, Social networking) I blocked the porn but does any one know how to block the social networking sites?

Professor mentioned that proximity is a major factor in relationship building-that relationships can only form when you are around the other person more frequently. However, I challenged my professor and asked her, "With the prevalence of social networking sites today, can you say that what you just said is not at all true?" She paused and said, "… Good point josh. Do a report on it." So here I am now, I’m asking all of you. What have social networking sites done for you in your relationship building in the past years?
