My uncle has to get a new job, and it was recommended that he join some social networking sites such as LinkedIn to gain connections and speak to others in his profession. I was asked to gather a list of these sites for him, but the only thing I can think of is LinkedIn. I know there are ones like Facebook and MySpace, but I mean more professional-geared sites. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of any good social networking sites other than Facebook or Myspace?

I’m looking for some good international social networking sites (social networking sites that are particularly designed for international friendships / penpals), but not as big as Interpals, LiveJournal or Myspace. Preferably an international social networking site more known in East or South Asia, rather then what is most known in the states. Like Mixi, for example – But open to foreigners.

I’ve been out of high school for ten years now, and my reunion is coming up next month. However, with the advent of Facebook and Myspace, I keep in contact with the people I want to keep in contact with (and the few who are not on either site I see on a monthly basis anyway). With that premise in mind, with social networking sites all the rage, are high school class reunions obsolete?

However, I challenged my professor and asked her, "With the prevalence of social networking sites today, can you say that what you just said is not at all true?"
